The City of London Fire Department recently joined forces with the London Police Department, West Jefferson Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison Health, and the Madison County Emergency Management Agency to complete Rescue Task Force (RTF) training.

This intensive, hands-on program focused on critical life-saving skills, including bleeding control, updated trauma assessment procedures, patient movement, and tactical coordination between law enforcement and fire personnel. The training emphasized teamwork and communication during high-stress emergencies to improve response times and outcomes in crises.

“The City of London Division of Fire & EMS is committed to preparing for any situation that may impact our community’s safety. Participating in Rescue Task Force training alongside our local law enforcement partners allows our crew to strengthen coordination and communication during high-stress incidents. These exercises ensure that when seconds matter, our first responders can work seamlessly together to save lives.” Says Chief Todd Eades, City of London Division of Fire and EMS.

The Madison County Healthcare Coalition’s Rescue Task Force Team hosted the training locally, providing an invaluable opportunity for first responders to strengthen coordination across multiple agencies. Through realistic exercises and scenario-based learning, participants gained confidence in managing complex scenarios that require both medical intervention and law enforcement support.

This collaborative effort highlights the commitment of Madison County’s emergency services to protect the community through preparation, partnership, and continuous training. Residents can take comfort knowing that their local responders are working together to ensure the highest level of safety and readiness.
