Open position for Fiscal Officer – Mt. Sterling Public Library is in search of the right candidate to fill an upcoming opening for Fiscal Officer. If interested, please visit the library website for more information at https://www.mtsterlingpubliclibrary.org
Preschool Storytime on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. This program is open to preschool ages 3 to 5 years only this year. Children will enjoy age-appropriate stories, crafts, and other surprises. No registration is required.
Batters, Splatters, & Platters fall Kids Cooking Club for children ages 5, 6, and 7 classes begin on Monday, September 22 at 6:00 p.m. Subsequent classes to follow on Mondays October 6 & 20, and the last class scheduled November 3. Classes run around an hour and a half long, with registration including all classes. All materials and supplies are provided. Limited to 12 children. Register by calling the library at 740.869.2430.
Easy Fitness Over 50 Class – There will be no Fitness Over 50 Class on October 29 or November 5. Classes resume on November 12.
Are you over 50 and looking for a way to start getting in shape? Then this is for you! We invite you to join us for a fun easy exercise class on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. in the library’s community room. This class will cover two different series of exercises. Through gentle cardio you will build strength and increase your flexibility with these easy and diverse routines. Coordinated by Assistant Librarian, Jeanne Wilt, this program features video instruction by certified health coach and fitness trainer Karen Brown. Through her choreographed fitness routines and knowledge of anatomy and physiology she will show people how to get stronger and feel healthier.
Bright Beats – Spaces remain available for this music and movement-based learning program for ages 1-4 years old with one class for ages 1-2 and 3-4. Registration is required for this 9-week program that meets every Wednesday for this FREE educational and fun class! Kids and parents love this class and instructor Katie. Limited to 12 children with an accompanying adult. Call the library to register at 740.869.2430.
Friends of the Library – Meet one week early on Tuesday, November 4 at 6:30 p.m. on the library’s main level. Plans for the Victorian Tea will be discussed. New members are welcome.
Card Crafting Class – Saturday, November 8 at 11:00 a.m. on the library’s lower level. Class includes all materials needed and is open to adults and children ages 10 and up with an attending adult. Sign up by calling the library at 740.869.2430.
Floral Book Vase Workshop – Wednesday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Violet Park Plant House join the Mt. Sterling Friends of the Library to create a book vase floral centerpiece with your choice of a Fall or Christmas theme, and Christmas make-and-take, for $25. Maximum of 20 reservations. Puzzle Swap at the Mt. Sterling Public Library – Community members are invited to participate by coming in to swap a puzzle. This is a SWAP, and you must exchange a library puzzle for one of your gently used puzzles. Please be sure to only swap your gently used puzzles with no missing pieces! Stop in during open library hours and swap puzzles. These will not be checked-out, only swapped on the “take-one-leave-one” honorary system so please do not bring them to the front desk. The display can be found in the adult section of the library, underneath the vinyl album collection. New and gently used puzzles can be donated by leaving them in the puzzle swap section without visiting the front desk.
Library Lockers Available in Midway – Midway (aka Sedalia) AND South Solon residents with Mt. Sterling Public Library cards can access books and library materials by choosing the items from the library’s website at https://www.mtsterlingpubliclibrary.org or using the SEO App. These items will be placed in locked library lockers located in Midway. Little Free Library Pantry – Your direct donations into the pantry are appreciated, and especially during the holidays. Please donate unexpired, undamaged canned and boxed goods, pet food, and unopened hygiene items year-round and know that your donations are going to families and individuals in need within our community. This blessing box is registered as an official Little Free Library in the U.S.
