Catholic Social Services RideConnect seeks dedicated volunteers

From Catholic Social Services

Since its inception in July 2021, Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley (CSSMV) RideConnect program has made significant strides in bridging transportation gaps in our communities. As the program celebrates its third anniversary, it is reaching out to the community for additional volunteer drivers to expand services and continue to make a difference in the lives of residents.

RideConnect, a grassroots initiative dedicated to providing reliable and accessible transportation, has been instrumental in connecting individuals to essential services such as medical appointments, grocery shopping, and community events. The program has proven to be a lifeline for many, particularly for older adults, individuals with disabilities, and those who lack access to personal vehicles. To spread the impact of this program, we are dependent on our volunteers and their availability to provide rides to individuals in need.

Why should someone consider volunteering with CSSMV RideConnect?

First, you will be making a tangible impact in your community. Volunteer drivers play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for area residents. By offering a helping hand, volunteers directly contribute to the well-being and independence of neighbors who might otherwise struggle with transportation.

RideConnect is a flexible commitment. CSSMV understands that volunteers have varied schedules. The program offers flexible driving opportunities that can be tailored to fit around your availability. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or a few days a month, your contributions are valued.Volunteering with RideConnect provides a unique opportunity to forge meaningful relationships with individuals across your community. It is a chance to meet new people, learn their stories, and become an integral part of a supportive network.

CSSMV provides training and support for all its volunteers. New drivers receive screenings and orientation to ensure they feel confident and well-prepared. The program offers ongoing assistance and resources to make the volunteering experience as smooth as possible. The program also provides mileage reimbursement for approved RideConnect trips.

Lastly, many volunteers find that giving back to their community brings a deep sense of personal satisfaction. Knowing that your efforts help someone get to a crucial appointment or attend an important event is a rewarding experience that enriches both the giver and the receiver.

Catholic Social Services and the Madison County Mobility Manager, Lindsay Scites will be hosting a RideConnect Volunteer Driver Information Session on Oct. 9 from 12:00-12:30 p.m. at the London Public Library, Hartley Meeting Room for those interested in learning more.

We welcome individuals from all backgrounds who are passionate about making a positive difference in their community.
