Due to rising supply rates, the Village is pursuing a gas and electric aggregation initiative that will be placed on the ballot in the November 2025 General Election with a goal of buying energy in bulk and securing better rates and terms for residents and businesses.

Bulk Buying Power

Gas and electric aggregation gives residents the power to come together as a community to secure better energy options. By pooling demand, towns and cities can negotiate more affordable rates than individuals could on their own, helping households save money and protect against sudden price spikes.

Aggregation also allows communities to choose where their energy comes from—such as increasing renewable sources—supporting cleaner air, healthier neighborhoods, and long-term sustainability goals. Beyond cost savings, it ensures that residents have a stronger voice and more control in the energy marketplace.

“Opt-Out” Aggregation Program

The Village will pursue an “Opt-out” aggregation program that automatically enrolls all local residents, unless they individually opt-out of the program and choose not to be included. If voters approve the initiative, the Village would then pursue a contract with an energy provider that would best meet the needs of our residents and business owners.

Many Central Ohio communities are turning to gas and electric aggregation programs because they provide a simple, collective way to save money and gain more control over energy choices. By joining together, residents can secure lower and more stable rates than they could on their own, protecting households from sudden price increases.
