Plain City-Georgesville Rd and Converse Huff Rd /Cemetery Pike Roundabout
From the Madison County Engineer’s Office
The Madison County Engineer’s Office, in partnership with the Village of Plain City and the Ohio Departmentof Transportation (ODOT), is developing a project to improve the safety of the Plain City-Georgesville Road (CR-7) intersection with Converse Huff Road (CR-30) and Cemetery Pike (CR-34), located in Darby Township.
The intersection currently has stop signs on Converse Huff Road and Cemetery Pike and allows thru traffic on Plain City-Georgesville Road.
The County Engineer is proposing to redesign the intersection as a modern single-lane roundabout, offset approximately 150 feet southwest of the existing intersection. The proposed roundabout would be designed to accommodate agricultural and heavy-haul traffic.
The project would also install pedestrian sidewalks and crosswalks, drainage improvements, and lighting at the intersection.
Construction is expected to begin in spring 2027 and be completed in fall 2027.
Right-of-Way Acquisition:
New permanent and temporary right-of-way will need to be acquired for the project. Starting in 2026, real-estate representatives from the Madison County Engineer’s Office will be in contact with affected property owners to discuss the right-of-way needs, the acquisition process, and their rights under that process.
Traffic Maintenance during Construction:
The proposed roundabout design will allow Plain-City Georgesville Road to remain open for the majority of construction with brief, intermittent closures. Traffic along Converse Huff Road and Cemetery Pike will be detoured for approximately 90 days.
The detour route for Converse-Huff Road will use U.S. 42/Amity Pike and the detour route for Cemetery Pike will use Amity Pike/Smith-Calhoun Road.
Detour information will be posted in advance of the roadway closure. The construction contractor will be required to maintain access to all adjacent properties for the duration of the project.
