Mt. Sterling Public Library seeks fiscal officer

From the Mount Sterling Public Library

The Mount Sterling Public Library Board of Trustees are seeking a qualified candidate to serve as fiscal officer, the chief financial officer for both the Mount Sterling Public Library and the Mount Sterling Community Museum.

This vital part-time position ensures responsible stewardship of public funds and supports two cornerstone institutions in the community. The fiscal officer will oversee financial policies, prepare reports and budgets, handle payroll and benefits, and manage records through Ohio’s Uniform Accounting Network (UAN).

“Our library and museum play a unique role as a cultural anchor for the area, and we are looking for a Fiscal Officer who will help ensure our long-term stability and success,” said Charlie Morrison, Trustee President.

The Mount Sterling Public Library, established as a historic Carnegie library, is believed to be one of the most rural Carnegie-funded libraries in the nation. In addition to its library services, it houses the Mount Sterling Community Museum, making it a cultural hub for residents of Madison County and beyond.

The fiscal officer position averages approximately 25 hours per month with flexible scheduling. Applicants should have accounting or finance experience, with preference given to those with public sector or library fiscal experience. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, and the position includes participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).

Interested candidates can find the full job posting and application instructions on the library’s website at: www.mtsterlingpubliclibrary.org.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
