London First Presbyterian celebrating 196 years

First Presbyterian Church of London will celebrate its 196th anniversary on Sept. 28. The church’s first worship service was held in late September 1829.

The Sanctuary Choir, under the direction of Thomas Lloyd, will sing a new anthem composed for the occasion by London resident John Lloyd. Two guest trumpets will perform and the choir will be accompanied by Carol Welk on the church’s 42 rank pipe organ.

The anniversary celebration will be a part of the regular Sunday 10 o’clock worship service and will be lead by Pastor Désirée Youngblood, the 17th called pastor in the history of the church. The public is invited to attend. The church is located at 211 Garfield Avenue in London.
