Plain City Launches Community Workshop

From the Village of Plain City

Plain City is entering a new phase of growth, and local leaders are inviting residents to help shape what comes next.

The Village will host its first “Picture Plain City Community Workshop” on Monday, August 18, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Plain City Municipal Building (800 Village Blvd.). The event is part of an effort to update the community’s Comprehensive Plan in response to projected growth and future infrastructure needs.

Organizers say the workshop will offer residents a chance to share their ideas, values, and concerns as Plain City prepares for a significant milestone: transitioning from a village to a city. Based on population projections, that change is expected to occur by 2030 under Ohio law.

The updated plan will address key topics including land use, housing, transportation, utilities, infrastructure, parks and recreation, and economic development. Officials say community feedback will play a central role in shaping the road map that guides future decision-making.

“This is an opportunity to step back and reflect,” said organizers in a public statement. “From revitalization in Uptown to long-awaited park connections and mobility upgrades, the momentum is building. Now is the time to decide how we’ll reinvest—so the next generation inherits a community that still feels unmistakably Plain City.”

During the workshop, participants will take part in a series of interactive activities designed to:

Identify beloved places, traditions, and natural features worth preserving

Pinpoint smart investments to strengthen existing neighborhoods and businesses

Capture long-term priorities like housing options, park access, safe streets, and utility improvements

The updated Comprehensive Plan will serve as a foundation for future infrastructure and policy decisions, helping the Village manage its growth while maintaining the character and values that residents cherish.

The event is free and open to the public. RSVPs are encouraged and can be submitted at https://bit.ly/PlainCityRSVP.
